I saw this amazing video from Famille Summerbelle.  The making of their San Francisco paper cut.  I wish I had the patience.

Bicycle Chicness

I saw this on my friend Grace's blog: Madsen Cycles. Isn't this the coolest family bike? We just bought a bike trailer for the kiddos, but this is so stylish, I can't help but hope that I win their giveaway bicycle. Click on the picture to find out how you can enter to win!

Dream Room

SouleMama just posted this about their "library" in the house they just moved into. Basically this is my dream room and I pray that God would find us a wonderful old farmhouse one day with room enough for us to make a space like this. We're planning on homeschooling the kiddos, so having a school room like this would be perfect in my mind. And how great are those yellow armchairs? Clink on the link above for the actual post and more pictures.

The tragedy that is my life

(FYI: title is slightly sarcastic)

I wish I was a famous blogger so I could get free stuff.

Like free Anna Maria fabric, books, etc... Sigh. Somehow I will move on and go make dinner and vacuum up the granola Hazel threw all over the floor, thinking it was hilarious. Here's a picture my mom took of the little terrorist, looking like a Swedish model.

Check out this post from Anna Maria Horner's blog to enter to win all sorts of neato sewing paraphernalia!

I am loving...

this living room from the ISLY blog. And I LOVE the fact that all of the furniture only cost $390...and the only reason it was that much was that the couch was $300. It is so inspiring to see wonderful rooms come together for not much moola.

I wish I could make this

I so so so so love the Sunshine Baby Afghan from Posie Gets Cozy. LOVE IT! The colors are beautiful. I just wish I could copy it, but sadly after several attempts, I have temporarily given up on crocheting. Maybe I'll just hire someone to make it for me.

A new blog to haunt

Made by Rae

Just found this blog today and oh my, I am inspired to start sewing again! I really haven't made anything for quite a while and this mama of two just cranks projects out.

I should really get on my 3 half-finished quilts, make Hazel some pillowcases, and put some patterns I bought last year to good use.

The countdown begins....

T-minus 6 days until the house is on the market! It's 8:38 on Saturday and Jason is putting the finishing touches on the trim. All that's left is painting and hanging a closet door and we're done!

You know us; we love to procrastinate!

Today was the marathon of all trim days. The man has worked from 9-8 pm with only a 45 minute stop for dinner (and a couple of Facebook breaks). And I'm exhausted from toting Hazel around all day to keep her away from her arch-nemesises (or nemesi, whatever the plural is): the air compressor and nail gun.

So tomorrow will be a lovely Sabbath rest day complete with a picnic at the park with mozzarella, basil, and tomato salad, chicken kebabs, wine, and strawberry dessert of some sort.

So very soon I will post pictures of chez Colfax and you can check it out. And there will be reminders of what the house looked like before purchase and when we moved in (i.e. how we were sans toilet for 3-4 days). Looking back, it's amazing what it looks like now. I do love this little house, despite i's foibles and proximity to a gas station and an RV park. Hopefully we can enjoy it a little bit longer this summer, without any projects!

And just because it's summer, here's a fun little post to read. From the Two Straight Lines blog. A very fun-looking summer "camp" schedule. I would totally do this with Hazel if she were a little bit older.

My Blog is in Kindergarten

It's been five years and 20 days since I started this little thing. To celebrate, I recommend checking out these "gems" of Late Night Over Pancakes.

The time AAA told me they just couldn't come help.

An argument with my sister over Jennifer Aniston's outfit.

My first winter snow in Moscow.

A woman whose husband bought her a house....for her fabric.

A very good poem about a cat.

Has it really been 4 years?

Wow...it's actually been 4 years and two weeks since I started this blog. Crazy!

On occasion, I look back over the older posts and sigh over typos or silly comments I've made. But it is kind of fun...I guess a blog is just a very public diary.

Some highlights for you. Though there are so many treasures in my blog history, it makes it hard to choose just a few. These are definite must-reads in the life and times of Liz and Jason.

The time that Miranda ran away.

Pictures from our honeymoon and messy first apartment. (Who am I kidding? Our current apartment is messy too.)

My college graduation.

Anne and Nate's wedding.

The time I almost jiu-jitsued Jason.

How incredibly Californian we are.

And my brother.

Something for the nursery

I found this etsy shop and if someone wants to give us a present, we love these prints! Namely the Jack and Jill, Humpty Dumpty, and the Three Blind Mice. Or Penelope the cat, Frederick the fox, Sherman the sheep, and Samuel the mouse. We can't decide which ones to get for the baby's room.

Here's a link to the artist's blog. Wonderful!

The Mouse that Roared

I thought this was a really excellent blog post about Ron Paul by Doug Wead. I'd never read his blog before, but one of my friends at work sent this to me. Very interesting.
