Well we are back from our friendly northern neighbors safe and sound. But before we went up north we went to Anne's graduation. Congratulations!
It was actually a very good, short ceremony considering they had several hundred names to read. They worked hard to keep things quick and to the point. But that didn't stop Jason and me from falling asleep. Seriously.
We all had a great weekend on Vancouver Island bumming around, watching "Canada's Worst Handyman" competition on TV at night, and seeing some goats living on the roof of a touristy market shop.
When we left the island, we took the ferry of course (thought it would be a long swim), and returned to our Subaru. But since we both liked Vancouver a lot and wouldn't be back for a while, decided to drive into town for lunch. Ate at a very yummy sushi place since we don't get to eat that so much in Idaho. Wandered around the Yaletown district and Jason bought a bottle of Black Sambuca, which I guess is hard to find in the States because it's not so popular. I'm thinking the licorice taste might have something to do with that. (I find licorice disgusting.)
We finally headed south later in the afternoon and across the border. Made it across without incident, thank you very much. But then we saw a Gap Outlet and since neither one of us had been shopping in quite a while, we stopped in and Jason got some lovely flowered swim trunks and I got a skirt. (Slightly guilty because of the fact that we're short on cash, but it's ok. We both get paid next week, so we can splurge.)
We drove, and drove, and drove, and drove, and we were still nowhere near home. Long drive that is. Around 11 pm we stopped in Othello, Washington, lovely little gas stations. We were both wiped and just threw our seats back and crashed. Never did that before. Not recommended. Not comfortable. I was the one who got to drive home at 4:30 this morning after a very not-so-sound sleep and then Jason got to be the one who went to work.
I took a nap.

Now we know why it took so long to get back to Idaho. If Jason had wanted to go fishing, he could have had really fresh sushi!
Isn't BC famous for fjords?
