Silly Stuff

On my way home from Idaho on Saturday, I sat next to a mom with her four boys all under the age of 10 (very well-behaved) on the plane. The youngest was an almost 2 and really cute kid named Sam. Of course near the end of the flight to Sacramento, his ears started hurting because of the pressure. His mom was trying to get him to yawn, but he wasn't really cooperating. So she gave him his juice cup and said, "Take this, it will help your ears." So Sam looked at the cup, then tilted his head to the side and stuck the mouthpiece of the cup in his ear, trying to dump the juice in his ear. I started laughing and then his mom looked up and started laughing too.

That was the third funny kid I'd seen the past weekend. There was a little girl in a fabric store in Seattle, running around and saying "pretty, pretty, pretty!!" to all the material.

The other funny kid was not so much funny because of what she did, but because of her parents. In Gap Kids, there is an abundance of trendy parents with their equally well-outfitted kids. There was a 3-year-old girl with her parents and they were showing her various outfits and asking her opinion. She stood there like a 3-year-old and just looked. The dad kept asking, "Do you like these pants? What do you think?" I thought parents just bought clothes for kids at that age, it was just funny to see the parents catering to the kid so much when it looked like she couldn't really care less. She did have a cute outfit on with a very hip poncho.
