I Samuel 5:1-5

Then the Philistines took the ark of God and brought it from Ebenezer to Ashdod. When the Philistines took the ark of God, they brought it to the house of Dagon and set it by Dagon. And when the people of Ashdod rose early in the morning, there was Dagon, fallen on its face to the earth before the ark of the Lord. So they took Dagon and set it inits place again. And when they arose early the next morning, there was Dagon, fallen on its face to the ground before the ark of the Lord. The head of Dagon and both the palms of its hands were broken off on the threshold; only Dagon's torso was left of it. Therefore neither the priests of Dagon nor any who come into Dagon's house tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod to this day.

This is one of my favorite passages. It shows so clearly the power of God and when it comes right down to it, none can stand before Him without submitting to His majesty and power.

I keep trying to respond to your post but I can't. I only know this: I love the Lord so much but I want to love Him so much more

Thanks for posting, Liz. Your faith encourages me. :-)

p.s. Do you know the song "In Christ Alone?" Probably since it's pretty popular, but it still means a lot to me. The promises it claims are the very promises which I have staked my life upon and live every day in faith of. Sometimes living in faith can be hard...very hard...but, come hell (let it come) or high water, I will never stop claiming Jesus as my Lord! Anyway, the song is a powerful testimony to me, and I would encourage you to listen to it (again) sometime. ;-)
