We had an excellent and wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday with good friends. We started off the day with a fancy breakfast complete with sparkling cider. There was a lot of "cheersing" going on. We unfortunately didn't get a family photo, but we did get lots of pictures of the kids running around in their fancy duds.
And of all the food. We both ate too much and the kids stuck with macaroni and cheese. Which by the way, I will be adding to my list of side dishes whenever we host Thanksgiving again. It's perfect to add to the feast. Let's see, we ate: turkey, gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, yams, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, rolls, and I'm sure I'm missing at least two more side dishes.
There was a funny moment when my friend's dad asked why the gravy was so spicy. He had mistaken the salad dressing for gravy.
For dessert, we had pumpkin pie, pecan pie, pecan bars, apple pie, cherry pie, chocolate cake, dinosaur cookies, and homemade pumpkin pop tarts. Oh, and pumpkin ice cream. You could say we had lots of good food. And lots of good talks with friends.
