Let's go

We went on an impromptu camping trip this weekend up to Laird Park, just a hop, skip, and a jump up the road from us. We had to try out our new tent in "the wild" and not just our yard. We timed it just right and got one of the few camping spots left. We brought the kids' teepee and they had fun playing in it.
That is until Mom started taking too many pictures and we got a little grumpy.
We went swimming (or rather, lounging in an inner tube) and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. I jumped into the freezing river with Anna and we had sandwiches and chips (Hazel's favorite part) before heading home the next day.
We had a really great 24 hours at the campground, despite Klaas deciding he needed to snuggle with Mom and Dad all night and a 3:30am wakeup call from both kids who had spotted each other in the dark and decided it was time to play the tickle game.

And just so you can see the whole giant thing in all its glory, here is our 8-man, two room, palace of a tent. It's enormous. But I can tell you, not having to stoop over while you change clothes, totally worth it.On our way home, we stopped for Daddy to clamor up a rock wall. Hazel really liked watching him, though I don't know if she'll be doing that any time soon.

Looks like a fun time. I am glad that you got in a mini-vacation before Jason's classes begin.
