hOWLowe'en

Tonight was our church's fall carnival for the families, put on by the students at our local college. Very fun, but just a little bit overwhelming for our little owls (or to be more specific, our pink owl). Hazel was mostly into her juice box that came with her macaroni and cheese. Juice boxes are cool for the 2 and under set. She had fun doing a little obstacle course and walking the plank after searching for buried treasure.

We were thrilled with the way their costumes turned out. A round of applause for my crafty husband who designed and made their masks this afternoon and then dressed up as a lumberjack. I wore all green and was either a tree or a tree-hugging hippie protecting the owls from the lumberjack (take your pick).

There were a ton of wonderful costumes: chefs, geisha, Lucha Libre, Luigi and Mario, King Tut and Cleopatra. It was great to see everyone all dolled up! But now we are home and all tuckered out. Glad tomorrow is Sunday and that it will be full of worship and rest and yummy food. Right now the menu is fall squash soup, a mushroom and blue cheese galette (we'll see how that turns out), and applesauce cake with cream cheese frosting.

Happy Autumn and a very blessed Lord's Day to you all!

Obviously not spotted owls, since they seem to be such good friends of the lumberjack....

Very cute little owls. Liz-I want the recipe for the squash soup. We have a plethora of butternut squash, and the one recipe I tried was not a repeater.
