My hair froze this morning...

while I was walking to work. Currently, it is a balmy 14 degrees (but with windchill, it supposedly feels like 5 degrees). But I am thankful that we don't live in Calgary, where I guess it was 40 below zero yesterday.

Despite the cold weather, I am very excited about our new futon (abrupt subject change). If you haven't been to our apartment, we had a black metal futon, purchased for $20 off of the street. It's functional and doesn't look terrible, but wasn't exactly what we wanted. So we were very excited when someone at church was selling their....wooden futon! Oh, the luxury! (Which by the way, promises to be much more comfortable than our metal one, so please come and test it out.)

So we made a deal for $20 plus a 5 pound bag of almonds (we were selling them). They live about 30 minutes north of town, so yesterday afternoon, we drove up there to retrieve the futon. The only problem was it was extremely icy and snowy which made for interesting driving. We finally made it up there, loaded the futon in, and tied down the back of the car.

You see, the futon was too long for our Subaru. And it was about 0 degrees.

So we drove back home with the gate open, heat going full blast, and our arms still went numb.

What a day to pick up a new sofa.

Is Jason going to look for a job in the wonderful inland Northwest so you can continue to have such memory-making experiences?

May I recommend an electric beanie? Battery powered, of course.
