This afternoon I decided to be a good citizen and go down to my local blood bank and give the vampires a pint. I got to be poked and prodded, and for my time and pain I got a gift certificate for a free pizza. (Blood for pizza, good exchange)
While my blood was being extracted, the two nurses on duty were having a chat. Basically it consisted of one of them, a mother, talking about her kids and her life. Among other things, she told me that when her kids were naughty, if they didn't listen to her other warnings and threats, she would "pull out the religion card" and tell them that Jesus wouldn't approve of what they were doing. That was her "trump card." No matter what, the kids would stop misbehaving. From what she said, this was the only reference to Christian behavior she gave her family.
Not only are these kids going to grow up with a complex about who Jesus Christ is, but they will have a warped perception of Christianity. I guess if a family doesn't regularly attend church or believe the truth about Christ, they would have a distorted idea of what everything means. I just thought it odd that someone who admitted to not attending church would use the threat of Jesus being disappointed to stop her kids from being disobedient. Sad really.

A FREE PIZZA! all i ever get when donating blood is a costco muffin and some watered down o.j. Man, they've been holding out. I usually don't even get a spiritual lesson on abusing Christ's name, rank nominalism, and child rearing. Maybe I should donate blood in California more often...or...maybe I should donate blood in Cal..ifornia.
