Yesterday my friend Alex and I went on a little adventure. Of course, it didn't start out as an adventure (few exciting excursions do). The Barton Gallery in downtown Sac was having their annual "F is for Fakes" contest where local artists copy world-famous paintings and sculptures in hopes of being named the best forger. There were some very good fake Van Goghs and some awful faux Picassos. Good show, very fun, and the experience lasted all of 10 minutes.
After leaving the gallery we were hungry. After spending all day at our jobs, she stuffing envelopes and me going through boxes, we had worked up quite an appetite and wanted to eat asap. Instead of finding a cheap and good restaurant quickly (which is a very easy task in downtown), we ended up driving around in circles in a 5 block radius for about 45 minutes. Don't ask me how, because I really couldn't tell you. There was a lot of, "Oh, drive around again, I want to check out that restaurant again" and "Oh yeah, there's that one thrift store..." We drove past the gallery about 6 times before selecting a yummy Thai place. I hope the guy behind the desk at the gallery wasn't staring out the window a lot because he probably thought we were off our heads.
