A must try

Just saw this recipe for an Almond Joy milkshake on DesignSponge. It's from Spike Mendelsohn from Top Chef (which if you're like me, you are totally addicted to) a few seasons back. I haven't made it yet, but I think we will be trying this this week since I'm headed to the store tonight and might just pick up some cream of coconut and chocolate ice cream.

Also, I am waiting for laundry to finish and surfing Etsy for cute vintage clothes for Hazel and the little guy. Found some very cute things I might get (or might just wait since it seems that having a new baby means lots of purchases all at once). I need to remember to check Etsy for clothes since the prices are great and then the kids are wearing fun pieces that are unique (since I am as guilty as every other mom in Moscow for mainly shopping at Old Navy - that's what happens when you have a limited number of shops in town).

Those shakes look so super tasty! We already have creme de coco in the fridge from making macaroons, so I may whip some up later this week.

How is cream of coconut different than just the top thick part you can take off a can of coconut milk?

I used cream of coconut in a coconut cake this spring. It's in the drink section of the grocery store by the mixers and such.

According to WhatsCookingAmerica:
Coconut milk - Coconut milk is not the juice found inside a coconut, but the diluted cream pressed out from the thick, white flesh of a well-matured coconut. Coconut milk is a rich, creamy liquid made from water and coconut pulp. It is a staple ingredient in Thai curries and in beverages, sauces, soups, and desserts throughout Southeast Asia. Unsweetened coconut milk is available in cans at well-stocked grocery stores and Asian markets. Do not substitute cream of coconut.

Cream of coconut - Cream of coconut is a smooth, thick liquid made from fresh coconuts. It is thick and very sweet, and commonly used in mixed drinks. Can usually be found in liquor stores, available in liquid and powdered forms.

But it also says that you can use the top part of a can of coconut milk if you don't have cream of coconut.
