It seems that whenever I turn on the radio or look online at the news, it's all just depressing garbage. Today NPR ran a story about all the negative political campaign ads that are warning voters that the world will end if they vote for the other guy. Of course, one party loves terrorists and the other one will always protect you from it. Some of the ads went so far as to say, if you vote for this one candidate, we will be attacked again. As if the terrorists don't like a candidate and will heap revenge on the public that elected him. (Not to say that some candidates are scary people.)
Also on MSN.com there was a story on how to survive an earthquake, a nuclear bomb, and the avian flu. Oh, of course. These are every day occurrences. I mean, just last week there were 3 nuclear explosions in the tri-state area and I personally know 10 people with avian flu. (Not that I am trying to diminish the importance of watching where avian flu travels.)
I am just anti-inflammatory propaganda that is constantly trying to frighten the public. I do understand that those are the stories that sell, but shouldn't the news media take some responsibility for the public fear and hysteria that happens these days? It seems we're always afraid of something, whether it's the Russians bombing us or possible terrorist attacks and the accompanying "orange level" alerts.
So that's just my commentary on the atmosphere of fear (hey, it rhymes).
