Today was goof-off day...and saturate your pores with grease day.
Since Jason wasn't working today, we got to sleep in after the paper route (hooray!) and then we had a lovely lazy afternoon of used bookstore browsing, coffee drinking, and King Kong watching.
Jason got a Matthew Henry commentary and some German books for some friends of ours. I got a great art book and a Bill Bryson travelogue. Tres fun!
King Kong was very good. I almost cried at the end when (spoiler) Kong dies. (But then again, I think everyone already knows that he dies.) The movie was 3 hours long, but I didn't even notice. Jason wondered if Peter Jackson is now addicted to making long movies. Twas an enjoyable film, but I am glad that we went to a matinee. I just think that evening ticket prices are so insane - I mean $10-ish at Modesto? That is just crazy.
After the movie, we went and filled our grease quota for the week with deep-fried shrimp, tacos, and nachos. Yum, but icky at the same time.
Oh - Jason and I are (you may already know this) slightly stupid at times. Example: last night reading trivia at the best burger place in town (black raspberry shakes - so good!). Jason was quizzing me and asked what sort of rock is formed from mud and something else (can't quite remember). I answered: sandstone. Jason said, I think that's right. Then he looked down and said, no the answer is canoeist. Me: that's odd, I've never heard of that kind of rock. Jason: Strange, I don't remember that from my geology class.
Pause.
Wait, that's the answer to the next question. Yeah, it was sandstone.
Why it took two (reasonably) intelligent people a minute to come to this conclusion, I don't know.
