Busy, Busy, Busy

Yes, I am aware that it has been over a week since my last post. But what a week it has been!

My roommate was married on Saturday here in Davis (Congratulations Melissa and Vasiliy!) so basically from Thursday afternoon to Saturday night I was running around with the bride and the other three bridesmaids.

Now I am not complaining, because Mel has done a whole lot more stuff than I did, after all, it was her wedding. But by Friday afternoon, I was exhausted. We (the bridesmaids) threw her a surprise "bachelorette" party Thursday night. And no, there was no nudity involved, just a good dinner, some extremely tacky shoes, and a picture of two tigers. (You had to be there.) Friday was "Spa Day", so we got to go to a salon and get manicures and pedicures. As a not-so-girly-girl, this was a new and different experience. It was very pleasant to have my feet rubbed and hands massaged. What wasn't so fun was the masochistic pleasure the woman took in clipping my cuticules (I thought they weren't supposed to do that - isn't it bad?) and the constant asking of "Can we please wax your eyebrows?" Ok - I might have somewhat thicker eyebrows than most girls, but they are by no means out-of-control, run-amuck-caterpillars atop my eyes. They are well-kept (most of the time) and I was slightly insulted by the insinuation that I have crazy eyebrows.

Saturday was the big day. Up early to get over to the bride's house after staying up late dropping off film and purchasing laundry detergent. We got our hair and makeup done by "professionals." The hair was not so good at first. It was pretty ugly actually, and if I had a picture, I wouldn't show it because you'd scream. But it was fixed and got better. Mel looked beautiful and was very excited. With about a pound of makeup on, my hair shellacked to my head, and my very nice dress (seriously - beautiful bridesmaids dresses) on, we went to the church and Mel and Vasiliy were joined together as man and wife. Yay for them!

Reception was fun, got to hang out with my family and my fiance. DJ was loud and annoying. But food was delicioso!

This is getting long, so this will be a two (or three) parter. So tune in next time to hear more about Liz's crazy wedding week!
