People, People, People...

Yesterday my best friend Jason (otherwise known as my fiance) and I went down to the river that runs past both of our houses. Our intention? To go swimming. The result? Disgust with the way the citizens of Stanislaus and San Joaquin Counties treat their public waterways.

Microwaves, carpeting, old car parts, the obligatory beer bottles and bags of chips, as well as the odd shopping cart were just a few of the items we found down by the river (absolutely no reference to the Chris Farley sketch here). Is it at all possible for people to take their trash to the....umm....what's that thing called again? Where you take your garbage when you're finished with it? Darn....this is a hard one. Oh yeah - THE DUMP!

I am now considering joining some sort of river clean-up program or just going down there on my own time to clean out the trash. Makes me mad. Grrrr!

i share your sentiments concering the poor state of the Stanislaus River however, one must confess that sprinkler bocce ball can be just as, if not more, envigorating than a quick jump in the river :)
