What we want for our kids and family (a short and imcomplete list)
to love Christ and to show that love daily
to be independent
to be creative
to bond with our family first and then branch out to other people
to be good thinkers, to be analytical
to not worry about what others think
to be modest, in dress and in attitude
to eat well, cook well
to grow and store food on our own
to own land someday
to live in the country (ish) and be in nature as much as possible
to live simply, in as small a home as is realistic for our family size
to love the classics, in clothes, books, food, theology
to learn and practice skills not commonly used anymore: carpentry, sewing, masonry, gardening, home preservation, knitting, etc....
to love, really love, the simple things in life
to have a passion for school, homeschooling, and do that in a creative way
to not be worried or stressed about things that might happen, but to trust that the Lord is in control of every aspect of our lives and has a good and perfect plan for all of us
to do our best in everything, to try harder, to never give up
for our daughter and sons to know and love what it is to be female and male and to celebrate the differences that the Lord has given each gender
to love each other
to like wearing moccasins

First snow of the winter
It snowed this weekend. So the kids were very excited to get out there and play. Grandma Shellie was here for the weekend, so Hazel got to show her how she sleds down our backyard hill...almost into the frozen tomato plants. With Grandma visiting, we also all went out for breakfast, watched movies, played games, and even made cupcakes! A busy and good weekend.
(Klaas' snowsuit is an homage to Cool Runnings. A good thrift store find by my mom.)

A rather busy Saturday
This weekend we had Anne, Nate, and Judah visit, held a rather successful yard sale, and Casper had his baby shower. A very full Saturday.

4th of July Fun
The four-ish-and-under egg and spoon race at Abigail's party. I was actually pretty impressed. I do like the holding-the-egg-on-the-spoon action by several of the contestants.
So one birthday party and another bbq later, we went to go see the fireworks in Pullman. This is the first time we've ever gone, despite having lived here as a married couple for seven summers. It was so much fun to take the kids, since they've never been before either (obviously). We parked on the backside of the park, on the smart recommendation of some friends, and then trekked on a trail through the woods. Hazel wasn't such a fan of that part and asked if there were any bears around. Both of the big kids loved the show and neither one got upset at the noise (hooray!). Casper slept through the whole thing.

Snapshots
Still going through boxes for our yard sale. I haven't run across our wedding album yet, but I did find a few copies of pictures.
And this would be us, making our grand and elegant entrance to the reception. We'll just leave it at it's a tradition from Jason's grandparents and so I was talked into it. But I am glad I did it. Even though it looks super goofy.
