Costumes

We were Kermit, Walter, and Miss Piggy this year from The Muppets.  If you don't know who Walter is, then I say go watch the new muppet movie from last year.  It's funny, the music is great, and you will enjoy it.

Here's a snippet of Life's a Happy Song from The Muppets, featuring Walter.  Check it out and it will brighten your day.

We went to our church's carnival, played games, and ate chili with hot dogs.  The kids both made awesome paper bag puppets, Hazel got to shoot a bow and arrow "like the fox Robin Hood!" and Klaas was able to shoot a nerf gun.  And they came home with lots of candy that we will have to parcel out for a few days.

Pumpkin craft

We have a Zorro-inspired piece by Klaas and a princess by Hazel.  I need to fix the crown again.

We are trying to work on loving each other.  Here is a series of photos to show how my two oldest are at times.

They do love each other and play very nicely together...usually when it's time to go to sleep.

Fall has finally come to the northwest.  This week it's supposed to get down to the 50s!  We have plans to do our annual apple picking and cider pressing adventure this weekend, if things go the way we hope they do.  And we've put up a few little decorations around the apartment.

Berries from a bush down the street.  I'm not sure which kind they are, though my mother could probably tell me.  I'm sure they are poisonous, which is why they are up on the windowsill, away from little hands.

Hazel and I made this felt leaf garland for our picture frames and our front window.  She was very helpful in organizing the stacks of colors.  I found the inspiration (aka I just copied) the idea from a picture I saw on Pinterest.

The wreath was super easy and was done in about one hour, and that includes the flower making.
The hour did include several breaks to watch Pushing Daisies, so you could probably do the whole thing in 30 minutes if you really wanted to.  Tutorial for the flowers was found here and for the rest of it, I just wrapped strips of fabric around a wreath form.  By the by, who on earth decided on a lovely purple color for our door?  Seriously, it is exactly that color, maybe just slightly grayer in real life.  If I were choosing doors for an apartment complex, I would so not pick one like ours.  Though it is nice and sturdy.

Anywho...I like the wreath.

And I did love it when Jason and Hazel lit up our little leaf lanterns we made last year.  It made our windowsill seem very cozy.
