Random Thoughts of Late

For those of you like me, who may forget certain rules of physics, here is an update: when heat is added to basically anything, especially liquid, it expands. Example: milk. Last Friday was my first night working on the espresso machine at work - gaaah! When a nice gentleman ordered two caramel machiattos, he started to make conversation and I told him it was my first time making drinks. He was very encouraging and stood there to watch me. I proceeded to pour a pitcher full of milk and stuck the wand in it to steam it. The key thing to remember here is that a pitcher nearly full of milk will soon run over when heat is added. And it did - all over me, the counter, and the floor. With the guy standing right there watching. Being a barista is oh so much fun!

Luckily things are starting to get better, practice certainly helps.

Here's another fun story for you - my friend Lindsey and I went into a bead store last week and the woman who helped us seemed a little flustered. Reason? She dropped her key ring in the toilet and flushed them to a place no one dares go. So she had no keys to get into her car, lock up the store, or to get into her house that night. So she was calling a locksmith, then her daughter to get some keys. She was not having a good day.

And to round off today's post, here is a tip: make sure you really think about how big a bag will end up before you invest 4 yards of fabric and 3 hours into making it. Don't just start cutting and then go, "Wow, do I really need a bag this big?" Please see the bag below. But it's still cute!
