I have now completed three hours of Starbucks orientation and have come to realize the absurdity of dress codes. Not that there are no good reasons for dress codes and I do understand that if you give people an inch, they will usually take a mile. But I mean, how many options can you have with solid black or white on top, with a collar mind you, and black or khaki on bottom? The thing that really upsets me though is that I will not be able to wear my beloved converse! Sniff sniff. And learning all this plus some other info took three hours! Why I ask you? And I have a 3 hour class to look forward to next week - just on coffee and the history of Starbucks! Don't get me wrong, I am tres happy to be employed and I think I'll like working there, but it just seems like a lot of pre-training training.
And the answer to the fun fact of Thursday: what was the first movie to be filmed in "VistaVision"?
White Christmas! One of the best movies ever. Not that you care - but this is just out there for your information and if you ever get that question on a game show and win a million dollars, I expect a gratuity.

White Christmas

Hey, I come to your site occasionally, it's linked from Jerry's blog which I read frequently, and anyway...
I'm a busboy[girl] at a local restaurant, and the dress code for busers: White shirt w/ collar, black pants, black apron, black socks, black or white shoes, annnddd...a bowtie!!! You think Starbucks' dress code is bad!
lol at any rate, I hope your job goes really, really well!!!
Thanks for the well wishes - and you're right, I'm glad I have a more "free" dress code!
